In our personal and professional lives, we are always trying to improve our situation and "climb the ladder" in one way or another. This is the kind of drive that keeps us from falling into a rut or feeling stagnant and unsatisfied. That drive, however, can also be a catalyst for a great deal of frustration if you feel like you've hit a wall in your career. Avoid that feeling by keeping a progressive and strategic mindset. Here are 3 ways to show your boss that you're interested in that promotion:

Become the best you can be in your current position. You'll never be considered for a promotion if your supervisor doesn't see that you're committed to the task at hand.

Be a good team player. Do what you can to help your coworkers when they need it. Be the first to clock in and the last to leave. Never leave your responsibilities for another person to handle.

Seek out additional training, mentorship, and other similar opportunities. If your boss sees you taking the initiative to learn more about your work, he or she will definitely take note. This is a strong leadership quality and will definitely improve your chance of getting the promotion you want.

In general, business owners and managers are looking for you to make positive contributions whenever you can. Do this, and in time, you'll be sure to get that promotion.
